lyrics
It is closed now, those days dissolved
So the caretaker drank the last of the spirit
That we paid him
We won't look back, the dust can fall
At least that's we told ourselves each time
We haunted that old hall.
It's where we began, it's where we were born
Where we dreamed of the heroes we'd be
When the daggers were drawn.
They rise up now, they still inspire
And the toasts that we raise to the ghosts that we loved
Are still sweet
We won't hold fire, say what you like
But we've lived every day at the edge
Come what may
And we won't fall.
It is quiet now, the weeds grow tall
And there's only the moan of the wind
And the glass on the floor
We moved on, we spared no thought
For the years that we'd-spend fighting hard till the end
Life's too short
It's what we've become, it's what we had planned
We believed all along in the beer and the song
And the band.
It's where we began, it's where we were born
Where we dreamed every day of the heroes we'd be.
Soothfully a phenomenal prog rock album—an instant classic. What motivates me to say so, is the music’s incredible expressiveness & its wonderfully cinematic song structures. Jargon is a very good fit with this band. It is quite evident that the band’s current lineup have great chemistry together & that they share a common affinity to this vein of music. I look forward to their next creation. Drifting Sun are definitely one of prog rock’s brightest lights. Thank you, DS!

Sustained by seismic psych riffs, proggy shifts, and vivid sci-fi storytelling, these Milwaukee cosmonauts command respect. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 29, 2023
The Long Island metal band's third album etches arena-sized hooks into their jagged compositions, deftly balancing experimental and poppy inclinations. Bandcamp Album of the Day May 12, 2022
Throwing mathcore, emo, and ambient into the mix, Estonia's Kaschalot push progressive rock's multitasking approach to its limits. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 10, 2021
The first official outing of the "what would be" Steve Rothery Band. Riccardo Romano was missing with his keyboard wizardry and no singer at all (later Martin Jakubsky of Stillmarillion). Marillion's catalogue was represented by excerpts of instrumental sections where Steve had his solo spot. This is a milestone in the forming of a great band that later became the spokesman of early Marillion era and of course of Steve's solo material. If you want to hear how it all started you have to get this Alessandro Carmassi
I didn't think I would like this record but it's so infectious in its ability to change from prog to post rock then to psychedelic and onwards into alternative metal. Such an amazing feat to introduce the saxophone and it sounds so cool, this record is outstanding. Darknight
